Somebody That I Used To Know — lyrics

Now and then I think of when we were together
Like when you said you felt so happy you could die
Told myself that you were right for me
But felt so lonely in your company
But that was love and its an ache I still remember

You can get addicted to a certain kind of sadness
Like resignation to the end
Always the end
So when we found that we could not make sense
Well you said that we would still be friends
But Ill admit that I was glad that it was over

But you didnt have to cut me off
Make out like it never happened
And that we were nothing
And I dont even need your love
But you treat me like a stranger
And that feels so rough
You didnt have to stoop so low
Have your friends collect your records
And then change your number
I guess that I dont need that though
Now youre just somebody that I used to know

Now and then I think of all the times you screwed me over
But had me believing it was always something that Id done
And I dont wanna live that way
Reading into every word you say
You said that you could let it go
And I wouldnt catch you hung up on somebody that you used to know…

But you didnt have to cut me off
Make out like it never happened
And that we were nothing
And I dont even need your love
But you treat me like a stranger
And that feels so rough
You didnt have to stoop so low
Have your friends collect your records
And then change your number
I guess that I dont need that though
Now youre just somebody that I used to know

I used to know
That I used to know

Somebody…

Lyrics:
[Intro]
Wait till youre announced
Weve not yet lost all our graces
The hounds will stay in chains
Look upon Your Greatness and Shell send the call out
Send the call out
Send the call out
Send the call out
Send the call out
Send the call out
Send the call out
Send the call out
Send the call out
Send the call out
Send the call out
Send the call out
Send the call out
Send the call out
Send the call out
Send the call out

[Verse 1]
Call all the ladies out, theyre in their finery
A hundred jewels on throats
A hundred jewels between teeth
Now bring my boys in, their skin in craters like the moon
The moon we love like a brother, while he glows through the room

[Pre-Chorus]
Dancin around the lies we tell
Dancin around big eyes as well
Even the comatose, they dont dance and tell

[Chorus]
We live in cities youll never see onscreen
Not very pretty, but we sure know how to run things
Livin in ruins of a palace within my dreams
And you know were on each others team

[Post-Chorus]
Im kind of over gettin told to throw my hands up in the air
So there

[Verse 2]
So all the cups got broke
Shards beneath our feet
But it wasnt my fault
And everyones competing for a love they wont receive
Cause what this palace wants is release

[Chorus]
We live in cities youll never see onscreen
Not very pretty, but we sure know how to run things
Livin in ruins of a palace within my dreams
And you know were on each others team

[Post-Chorus]
Im kind of over gettin told to throw my hands up in the air
So there
Im kind of older than I was when I reveled without a care
So there

[Chorus]
We live in cities youll never see onscreen
Not very pretty, but we sure know how to run things
Livin in ruins of a palace within my dreams
And you know were on each others team

[Outro]
Were on each others team
And you know were on each others team
Were on each others team
Were on each others team
And you know, and you know, and you know

«Dark Country» is a collaborative compilation (first of four) by various artists, published by the Extreme Music label. Its guitar-heavy country with a dark underlying tone.

Ive decided to put up this album because its simply great music that I enjoy listening. The original audio quality of the uploaded file is 128 kbps MP3. The whole album (and many others) are available for free streaming on Extreme Musics official site (links below).

Why upload something thats already available elsewhere? Well, Youtube is extremely popular, and usually the #1 stop for all music searches. My wish is simply for this music to become as widely available as possible.

No copyright infringement intended. If the copyright holder(s) want this removed, contact me and Ill take the video down immediately.

All music and art © by the respective musicians and Extreme Music.
