About the The Razors Edge:
AC/DC cracked the seal on the 90s with one of the best riffs of their career. That would be «Thunderstruck,» the opening track on The Razors Edge. In addition to «Thunderstruck,» the band brought out «Moneytalks,» probably the closest they ever came to writing a pop song. Then there was «Are You Ready» — one of their fiercest calls to action. The gritty edge and booming chants on this album were a welcome reminder for a new generation that pure, unadulterated rock n roll was alive and well.

Lyrics:
I was caught
In the middle of a railroad track (thunder)
I looked round
And I knew there was no turning back (thunder)
My mind raced
And I thought what could I do? (thunder)
And I knew
There was no help, no help from you (thunder)
Sound of the drums
Beating in my heart
The thunder of guns (yeah)
Tore me apart

Youve been thunderstruck

The Beatles - Hey Jude

The Beatles 1 Video Collection is out now. Available on: www.thebeatles.com/

Hey Jude topped the charts in Britain for two weeks and for 9 weeks in America, where it became The Beatles longest-running No.1 in the US singles chart as well as the single with the longest running time.

The Beatles did not record their promotional film until Hey Jude had been on sale in America for a week. They returned to Twickenham Film Studio, using director Michael Lindsay-Hogg who had worked with them on Paperback Writer and Rain. Earlier still, Lindsay-Hogg had directed episodes of Ready Steady Go! And a few months after the film for Hey Jude he made The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus TV special that featured John and Yoko but wouldn’t be shown until 1996

To help with the filming an audience of around 300 local people, as well as some of the fans that gathered regularly outside Abbey Road Studios were brought in for the song’s finale. Their presence had an unlikely upside for The Beatles in their long-running saga with the Musicians’ Union in that the MU were fooled into believing the band were playing live, when in fact they were miming for the vast majority of the song. Paul, however, sang live throughout the song.

The video was first broadcast on David Frost’s Frost On Sunday show, four days after it was filmed. At that point transmission was in black and white although the promo was originally shot in colour. It was first aired in America a month later on 6 October 1968, on The Smotheres Brothers Comedy Hour.

America - Tin Man (Live-HQ)

America live in 1974.

«Tin Man» is the title of a 1974 song by the pop-rock band America. It was written by band member Dewey Bunnell and produced by the noted record producer George Martin, who also plays the piano part on the recorded version. The song was included on the bands album Holiday, also from 1974.

Released as the first single from Holiday, «Tin Man» became the bands fourth top-ten hit in the US, spending three weeks at number four on the Billboard pop chart in November 1974. The song reached number one on the Billboard adult contemporary chart in October of that year.

The songs title and some of the lyrics reference the Tin Woodman from the works of author L. Frank Baum, including his childrens novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and the subsequent 1939 film The Wizard of Oz.

Songwriter Bunnell was quoted describing the parallel: «My favorite movie, I guess. I always loved it as a kid. Very obscure lyrics. Great grammar — Oz never did give nothing to the Tin Man. Its sort of a poetic license».

Lyrics

Hes laughing with another girl
And playing with another heart
Placing high stakes, making hearts ache
Hes loved in seven languages
Jewel box life diamond nights and ruby lights, high in the sky
Heaven help him, when he falls
Diamond life, lover boy
He move in space with minimum waste and maximum joy
City lights and business nights
When you require streetcar desire for higher heights

No place for beginners or sensitive hearts
When sentiment is left to chance
No place to be ending but somewhere to start

No need to ask
Hes a smooth operator
Smooth operator, smooth operator
Smooth operator

Coast to coast, LA to Chicago, western male
Across the north and south, to Key Largo, love for sale

Face to face, each classic case
We shadow box and double cross
Yet need the chase

A license to love, insurance to hold
Melts all your memories and change into gold
His eyes are like angels but his heart is cold

No need to ask
Hes a smooth operator
Smooth operator, smooth operator
Smooth operator

Coast to coast, LA to Chicago, western male
Across the north and south, to Key Largo, love for sale

Smooth operator, smooth operator
Smooth operator, smooth operator
Smooth operator, smooth operator
Smooth operator, smooth operator
Smooth operator, smooth operator
