Half past twelve
and I’m watchin’ the late show
in my flat all alone
how I hate to spend
the evening on my own
autumn winds
blowin’ outside the window
as I look around the room
and it makes me so
depressed to see the gloom
there’s not a soul out there
no one to hear my prayer
Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!
A man after midnight
won’t somebody help me
chase the shadows away
Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!
A man after midnight
take me through the darkness
to the break of the day
Movie stars
find the end of the rainbow
with a fortune to win
it’s so different from
the world I’m living in
tired of TV
I open the window
and I gaze into the night
but there’s nothing there to see
no one in sight
there’s not a soul out there
no one to hear my prayer
Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!
A man after midnight
won’t somebody help me
chase the shadows away
Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!
A man after midnight
take me through the darkness
to the break of the day
Hailing from New York, the dance-disco outfit Indeep scored a massive hit in 1983 with «Last Night a DJ Saved My Life.» Led by songwriter Michael Cleveland, the band issued a full-length album under the same title shortly thereafter, but with the disco movement almost extinct by this time (and with the emergence of such styles as rap), Indeep subsequently had a tough time following up their smash and were delegated to «one-hit wonder» status. The act continued recording into the mid-80s, and issued a few quickly forgotten albums: When Boys Talk, Buffalo Bill, and The Record Keeps Spinning. But the groups lone hit has become a dancefloor classic over the years, and 1991 saw the release of the 23-track best-of set, The Collection.

Cerrone — Supernature [Original Full-Length Version] (1977)
(arranged by Jean-Marc Cerrone / composed by Alain Wiśniak / written by Lene Lovich)
Recorded: June-August 1977, «Trident Studios» London, GT Britain
Jean-Marc Cerrone — барабанщик, композитор и продюсер, больше известный как Cerrone (рус. Серрон), родился в 1952 году в Витри-сюр-Сен, Франция. Вместе с Giorgio Moroder (Donna Summer, Sparks, Blondie, Falco ...) и Frank Farian (Boney M., Eruption, Far Corporation, Milli Vanilli...)
Supernature:
(Cerrone / Wiśniak / Lovich)
Once upon a time science opened up the door
We would feed the hungry fields till they couldnt eat no more
But the potions that we made touched the creatures down below, oh
And they grew up in the way that wed never seen before
They were angry with the man cause he changed their way of life
And they take their sweet revenge, as they trample through the night
For a hundred miles or more you can hear the people cry
But theres nothin you can do even God is on their side
How can I explain, things are different today
Darkness all around and nobody makes a sound
Such a sad affair, no one seems to care
Supernature, better watch out
Look at you now, better watch out
Look at you now, supernature
Better watch out, theres no way to stop it now
You cant escape, its too late
Look what youve done, theres no place that you can run
The monsters made, we must pay
Supernature, you better watch out
Supernature, look at you now
Supernature, you better watch out
Supernature, look at you now
Better watch out, theres no way to stop it now
You cant escape, its too late
(Supernature)
Look what youve done, theres no place that you can run
The monsters made, we must pay
Maybe nature has a plan to control the ways of man
He must start from scratch again many battles he must win
Till he earns his place on earth like the other creatures do
Will there be a happy end, now that all depends on you

ELO was inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017.
Kebus all-analog synth cover of Giorgio Moroders The Chase, performed live at the Sthlm Italo Disco Party 2015 at Nalen, Stockholm, 16.5.2015.
Thanks to Jean-Paul Meulendijks, Alexander Guskov, Heidi Väisänen, Tuulikki Väisänen, and Renaud Guérin for operating the cameras!
The first minute is my own composition, «Prelude to Chase», that I composed as an intro to Chase. My arrangement of Chase is a mixture of both the original version and JAIAs Express Remix — with a few of my own additions thrown in.
The song was performed using only analog synthesizers, either played live or sequenced. The performance was recorded directly from the mixer to a stereo track and later mixed together with the ambience from the room. A few mistakes have been cut out and replaced with the audio from a rehearsal take.
Equipment used in this song: Logan String Melody II; MXR EVH117 flanger; Roland TR-808, Juno 60, Alpha Juno 1
